If you have ever ridden a bike, you can join us on our easiest biking trip! This relaxing trip is full of sunshine,
clean air, and erosion sculpted stone formations. Sedona was recently named by Money Magazine as one of the 12 best places to spend a summer vacation. This trip is our easiest trip to bicycle with three days of road biking consisting of 22, 7 and 31 miles. One additional day of biking is on a beginning off road paved trail approximately 5 miles long. Remember, if at any time the cycling is more than you want to do, you can hitch a ride in the nearby sag van.
On this trip, we bicycle to the towns of Cottonwood,
Jerome and back to Sedona on paved roads. On another day, we will
be bicycling southeast of Sedona on a paved bike trail suitable
for beginners. In addition to bicycling, we will spend an entire
day with a Grand Canyon outfitter who drives us to and from the
magnificent Grand Canyon. While at the Grand Canyon, we will enjoy
a fine dining lunch at the Historic El Tovar Hotel. Dress is casual,
but we will dine in elegance at this world famous lodge where presidents
and kings have dined. While on our Grand Canyon tour, we will also
watch a breathtaking IMAX movie of the Grand Canyon.
On one of the days after bicycling, we will take a 3 1/2 hour first class train ride through the Verde River Canyon. You will see unspoiled, riparian wilderness, displaying wildlife, waterfowl, unique rock formations and Sinagua Indian ruins. Mesquite, Ocotillo, Prickly Pear, Spanish Dagger and Strawberry Hedgehog cactus line the tracks from beginning to end. We will eat lunch while on the train.
After the train ride, we will eat dinner at the all-you-can-eat chuckwagon supper and live western stage show at the Blazin' M Ranch. After supper, enjoy the harmonic sounds of the famous Blazin' M Cowboys, who will entertain you with their hour-long Western stage production that includes cowboy music, storytelling comedy and cowboy poetry. You will not be disappointed.
Another highlight of the trip is our visit to the
Indian ruins at Tuzigoot. You can actually walk inside the ruins
and touch them. Also, we will visit Out-of-Africa Wildlife Park
for a real adventure including up close and personal encounters
with beautiful, exotic animals. While riding in a safari vehicle,
you will see lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, hyenas, gazelles,
gnus and ostriches, plus a very good aviary. It's like Africa -
only closer.
We will visit the beautiful Chapel of The Holy
Cross Church which was built to blend in with the rocks which are
native to the Sedona area. A massive stained glass window turns
the Chapel's interior into a kaleidoscope of brilliant color.
One night we will stay in the mining town of Jerome
at The Grand Hotel. This is a large hotel built during the mining
hey-days of Jerome. This hotel was built by the mining company to
accommodate the dignitaries visiting the mine. The view from the
upper story windows of this hotel is magnificent as it overlooks
the flat desert floor far below.
All of the activities listed above are included in the cost of the trip without any additional charge.
This trip has more optional opportunities available than any of our other trips. You may opt for
horseback ride, balloon ride, jeep tour, hiking, shopping or relaxing by the pool at one of our beautiful
stopovers.
